4507R catalyst switch port connect/disconnect

hi,

I have a big problem with a 4507R catalyst switch(The all port are 1Gb).

When I configure a port to 1G, this port connect, disconnect,connect, disconnect ...

But when i configure this port to 100M it's ok.

The pb is that the all port are busy, i don't have a free port to pluged the cable.

I can't restart the catalyst.

Please help me!! because it's very urgently!!

It exist a solution without restart....

Did you try to set auto on the switch port and the server?

Sure you have a cat 6 8 wire patch cable . Gig takes all 4 pairs of wires to run correctly . I also have always left the port as auto to runn gig . Also if you hardcode the switch you have hardcode your nic too .

Yes, the cable is ok.

I have tested with an other cable and i have the same pb.

set speed/duplex to AUTO on 4507 port and server NIC.

Then shut the interface and then no shut.
