I need to make a recommendation to the managment for a centralized network discovery and maintenance. I am looking at Cisco works and HP Opneview. I would appreciate if someone could share their experience or comment on the same. Thanks!

We use both for different reasons,

Openview – network management (up or down)

CiscoWorks – network maintenance, software and configuration management

They really play in different arenas,

Hope this helps a little

Device Fault Manager (DFM) within CW2K can also do Fault Management as well.

whatever you do don't run Ciscoworks on a AIX platform it's extremely slow and it will frustrate the heck out of you . Is your network mostly cisco or is it a mix that should play into your decision also .

CW2K on AIX is already EOL and End of support for a while now: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/wr2k/cpbn/prodlit/1626_pp.htm
