Is there a quick way to tell if Informix is running correctly on the DNCS and how much disk space is available for Informix? What is the precise command?

Yes. The DNCS utilizes Informix as the Database engine and must be running correctly for the processes and GUIs to function.

•1)      From an xterm window, type:

$onstat –d

Informix Dynamic Server 2000 Version 9.21.UC3     -- On-Line -- Up 40 days 19:30:20 -- 2713600 Kbytes

Results:

•-          The 1st line of output should state that Informix is “On-Line” and will also display the total uptime for Informix. If this value is anything other than “On-Line”, the database is not completely up. If the database is not “up”, the processes and GUIs will not function correctly.

•-          The Informix database itself is split into 2 Gig “chunks”. Each of these chunks is defined as either root space, tempspace, log space or database space. Generally, the Database chunks will all be specified as chunks “dbs 4”. Unused database chunks will have the same value in both the “size” and “free” columns, while used chunks will display less “free” space. If a chunk is completely used than “free” may actually = “0” for that chunk, which is normal.

•-          If you have no database chunks that are unused, you may be in jeopardy of running out of space .
