I can't seem to get any feedback on small cells from forums...If one inserts the cisco 5310 into a 3600 what other equipments are needed to roam seemlessly between 3G and wifi, such as switches and routers that have protocols in their IOS for gsm and cdma(asr 5000? or nexus 5.5 and what switches?)

Thanks for your question. The architecture includes an ASR 5000 acting as a small cell gateway, and applying the necessary policy. An overview of the architecture can be found in this document: Cisco Licensed Small Cell Solution

Thanks for the pdf file. I read it and it was more of an overview and general architecture with a very helpful diagram.
1)Is there a step by step setup implementation guide for the whole 9 yards?
2) How does one integrate the ASR 5000? I will like to offer new solutions but need to be able to answer all questions from all angles.
3)Does one setup AP(with 5310 module), switch and controller as usual, but use the ASR as a gateway?
4)Does the ASR do BSS, OSS, NSS, have access to home location register. Does it do pilot channel, sync channel, paging and traffic channel as well?
5) If it is not simply including the ASR 5000 as a gateway and requires more, where can one find docs?
Thanks

Hi Nana,
You can find more information on ASR 5000 Series here. You can find resources from Models, Data Sheets, Core Platform Compliance and Certifications, White Papers to name a few. Also, you can access Install and Upgrade Guides as well as Configuration guides for ASR 5000 here. There is also a Let Us Help section on the top right section of the ASR 5000 Series Web Page (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/wireless/asr-5000-series/index.html) where you can email and/or call a Cisco representative to get all of your questions answered.
Thank you,
Kellie

Your question is great but is very broad. Do you or your company own licensed Radio Spectrum? The small cell solution consists of all E2E pieces required to deploy a Wi Fi or Licensed Radio device or in the case of your question, both together. It also requires a service provider to support the complete infrastructure required to tie into the Service Providers core network and macro infrastructure.
Hope this helps
Ron
