The Mute button is flashing

At random times during the day the Mute Button is flashing red. During a call or when retrieving a message, sometime  it flashes red, and voice conversations are  temporarily lost.

How do I fix the above problem ?

It is hard to get a good idea of what is causing the issue without a little bit more information.

-Do you have the model of the phone?

-Do you know the version of firmware that the phone is running?

It sounds like it could be a problem with the phone communicating with the server if you are losing voice communication temporarily, but without further information, it would be hard to make an assumption.
