i have good exprinces in routing and switching and not much in wireless .

as i know we need to use cmx 10.x and cisco prime ,

i need some infos about how to configure WLC to send analytics datas to Prime or any usefull informations to help me ,

in which mode APs should functions ?  autonomous or lightweight  ( local or Flexconnect )?

1500 AP? That would mean your WLC 2504 is way to small to handle all those AP in lightweight mode. You would need at least a WLC 5520 to handle all those AP in LW mode (which I recommend for most, but not all, setups).

With 1500 AP you should contact an experienced company in doing such deployments, because this will need quite some planning and resources!

Anyway, I only know the variant with doing that on the WLC and Prime.

You would setup a Prime Infrastructure with enough resources to handle the expected client count. Then you would add the WLC to the Prime and configure the required snmp traps. Once this is working, you setup your CMX (or MSE, check the differences, as CMX doesn't yet offer all MSE features) as outlined in the installation guide.

But again, this is a big enterprise setup which requires quite a bit of planning and engineering.

we have many locations  and in every location 10-30 APs and one wlc 2504.

and there is also air-ct8510-k9 wlc available ,

should i manualy set APs in LW mode ? i mean need to change ios ?

if there is any variant that can do it also without cmx its good ,
just need some key infos the rest i will findout

thank you alot

Based on this document, you can leave your AP in autonomous mode, but you need to configure each one independent (Prime can help you with templates probably).

I think you only see the connected clients in the Prime, not the ones just walking around without connecting. I don't know CMX, so I don't know if this is supported with CMX.

is there anyway to get  probes and request intervals even from unconnected clients with aironet 2700/3700 like meraki APs?

every smartphone sends every minute 10-15 probes with client infos like mac and device info and merki aps get the client location too , ( location measurement  works with rssi and distance from each ap )

thanks

I don't know, maybe Leo can help here.

no still not

have already cmx and prime here

If this system is not yet in production, then get a reputable integrator to help you set it up correctly.  The outcome your company wants to see is fairly complicated it's not even possible to write it up in this forum.

PI can do this (and CMX can do this too) but it will require more work on PI.  Someone has to import the maps and configure each map/floor/site/building/campus individually.  Most important is to draw the walls and put AP placements before something constructive can be collected.

CMX will just download the information from PI and work independently.

and there is also air-ct8510-k9 wlc available

If there are a lot of autonomous AP out there, then you're just wasting precious licenses with PI.

My recommendation is get someone who knows about wireless.  You've got an 8510 but the majority of the APs are still on autonomous.

thanks for your reply ,
just the last thing ,

maps/floor are already in prime and aps are located on the map ,
just need to know if there is any setting in wlc or prime that i need to know ?

and where in prime can i see probes from clients who walking around ?
do i need any chokepoints or TDOA reciver ?

we need just the probes from everyone ! the clients whoe are connected and who walking around and send them to our log server .

thanks again
