Hi,

I have got a CIVS-IPC-2500 camera and it is not working on POE switches. All the other cameras of the same model are working ,except this one camera.

It works when the power is manually connected.

Please advice if ther is some setting to be done on the camera.

Hi Shajeeb,

A quick check would be to make sure your RJ45 cable and PoE power sources are not defective so test it with another known good working 2500 camera to confirm.  Check carefully the camera's Ethernet socket to make sure the pins are not damaged or shorted.

Since you mentioned that using external power worked fine, please make sure you used Cisco 12 Volts DC (Cisco part number CIVS-PWRPAC-12V).

NOTE:

5) PoE LED (green)

     - Indicates information about PoE as follows:

          • On—PoE connection is detected

          • Off—PoE connection is not detected

10) Power input Provides for the connection of an optional 12 V, 1 amp DC power adapter.

If it turns out that the PoE for the camera failed to work properlly, then the next step would be to contact TAC

and request RMA. Thank you and hope this is helpful.

Sometimes a cable, sometimes a switch port, sometimes too many PoE devices... check all this.  And sometimes a faulty device... TAC it.

In the case you describe, assuming the power LED does not light when connecting this one camera to POE, it sounds defective.  If it is a new camera, either open a TAC case to RMA through Cisco if it was purchased directly from Cisco, or contact the distributor from whom you purchased the camera and request a replacement.  Providing this is not a 2500W (wireless) camera, as the wireless versions do not support POE.
