Why is it that when you log into a Cisco 2900 PTZ camera and go to System->Information to get the serial number, that usually starts with ABX , Cisco can not find it in their system to open a TAC case?
Or if you go to Camera Configuration -> OSD and select System Information there, you get a different serial number that starts with PEL151303..., and Cisco cant find that one in their system either.
I have litteraly given the lady at TAC about 20 different serial numbers of each, the ABX and PEL serials, and she cant find any of them to let me open a case. Is there another place to get the serial number of the camera?
Thanks

I haven't had the opportunity to use one of these cameras yet. Does it report any detailed information via CDP?
Just curious. Also, if you've managed to track down where/how to locate the "Cisco" serial number (as opposed to the Pelco one?), I'd love to know as well.
Cheers!

Hi Jason,
I'm sorry you have had poor success identifying the 2900 series cameras by SN. Cisco TAC should be able to pull up the part by the Cisco SN (which is the Peldo SN of format PEL15602A9) Please be aware that letters A-Z can exist in the last several digits. The SN beginning with PEL is the only identifyable SN available.
If you want to unicast me some serial numbers, I can look them up and do some research.
I hope that helps,
Jim
