Error in ims.log - can't find xml config upon opening an archive

Hi all,

I'm seeing the following error pop up in the ims.log file whenever an archive is opened from the ops page.  It doesn't seem to have any impact but I thought I'd check to see if anyone else is seeing this.  I'm running VSM 6.3.1 and have been able to verify this behavior on two separate systems that I've installed.

[ httpd(6744) GL_SETUP=1 <gut_setup.cpp:494> ] open('/usr/BWhttpd/conf/proxy/10.a_p_Front_PTZ_-_a_regular_2.xml'): No such file or directory

I also see this error in one system running Axis encoders. Also seems innocuous.  Any thoughts?  Maybe a dropped frame?

Hi Eric,

open('/usr/BWhttpd/conf/proxy/10.a_p_Front_PTZ_-_a_regular_2.xml'): No such file or directory

This message is nothing to worry about.  It is actually a strange part of normal, under-the-hood, operation.

This message occurs when viewing an archive that has to do with how video requests are processed by VSMS. The message is stating that the software cannot find the proxy "a_p_Front_PTZ_-_a_regular_2"  This makes sense since that is the name of an archive, not a proxy. One thing these messages do tell you is that user was trying to view the indicated archive (a request for this archive was made).

As you guessed, this is another one that shouldn't be a concern.  This message is coming from the software which creates a thumbnail for the camera/camera feeds, and the forensic tool. If the software has a problem generating a thumbnail from the data at a certain point in time it logs this message.  If you aren't noticing any problems, then I wouldn't worry about this one either.

If this answers your question regarding these messages, please mark the question as answered.

Thank you,

Sean

Hi Eric,

From the error line, it looks like the XML file for the archive of the camera proxy 'p_Front_PTZ' cant be found by the server. This is the file which holds the configuration of the archive. It should exist under the directory '/usr/BWhttpd/conf/archiver'. Can you check if this file exists in this directory?

If not, you might have to reconfigure your archive which will result in this file being created.

Thanks for the answer.  This is basically what I had figured on but it's

nice to have something to point to when yon customer points at the log and says "why?"

Eric
