Time Off

Added UCS media server 7.2.2 to vsom 7.2.2.  Working fine except this message "Media server time does not match with the VSOM time".

So time is off in the media server.  NTP is set the same on vsom and media server.  How to I sync these. I have 6 other media servers I added

with no problem.

Hmmm... Are the timezone values set appropriately across all media servers?  Also, is the hardware clock on each physical server synced with the running system time?  Have you consoled/shelled into the server in question to do some manual checking?

Yes I have been in the console and all entries are correct and are the same as the other 6 media servers.  The only two items that are required are NTP ip address and time zone.

I was thinking there might be a way to force the media server to sync to the vsom.

What is the underlying OS on the Media Server in question?  RHEL or SLES?

If you log in to the console via SSH (localadmin);

sudo su -

date

hwclock

Do you get the expected values?

No.  Date is correct but time is off 8 hours.

Okay... well... is there any way you could provide more detail than that?

Which time is off by 8 hours?  Both of them?  Only 1?  Was the timezone reported properly?

Example output:

BSIFREVS3:~ # date
Wed Feb  4 13:57:43 AST 2015
BSIFREVS3:~ # date -u
Wed Feb  4 17:57:46 UTC 2015
BSIFREVS3:~ # hwclock
Wed Feb  4 13:57:49 2015  -0.000267 seconds
BSIFREVS3:~ #
