VSM 7.2 Question. If I have an array of servers that were upgraded from 6.3 {ie SUSE} and I need to add a new media server to the bunch, but I want to make it a virtual media server on a B-series server, since I can only find Redhat OVA, will a redhat MS work with a SUSE Operations manager?

You can download VSM7.2 packages for both Redhat and SUSE
Cisco_VSM-7.2.0-020d_sles10.zip
Cisco_VSM-7.2.0-020d_rhel5.zip

I already have the packages downloaded. I just need to know if I have a suse linux Ops manager, will it work with a Redhat Media server?

Robert are you stating you have a Cisco VSOM server that is running on SLES and you will have other media servers on Red Hat. If that is the case you should be ok.
Is your Vsom server on a CPS-MSP or a CIVS-MSP? Also how large of a deployment is this?
In the release notes it shows these supported platforms.
Physical Servers:
Cisco Physical Security UCS
platform servers:
CPS-UCS-1RU-K9 and
CPS-UCS-2RU-K9
Cisco Multiservices platform
servers:
•
CPS-MSP-1RU-K9
•
•
•
•
CIVS-MSP-4RU
CIVS-MSP-2RU
CIVS-MSP-1RU
CPS-MSP-2RU-K9
Virtual:
Cisco UCS platform: B, C, E and
Express series
Cisco Multiservices platform
servers:
Found here:
I have also done some installation where customer has a new Cisco 2 ru CPS-MSP server and we have just Vsom 7.2 running on it and then other media servers running VSM 7.2 on Red hat and some media servers running 7.2 on SLES.
So in a nut shell you should be just fine.
Thanks and hope this helps

We have a two CPS-MSP-2RU-K9 Servers with VSOM + VSMS in both the Servers.
That is ( VSOM+VSMS) in Server-1 and again (VSOM+VSMS) in Server-2 .
Can i have Redundancy for VSMS and also for VSOM by this Method ?
Does VSOM in one Server-1 can have Control over VSMS in Server-2 ? Is this a Recommended Design ?

Beginning with VSM7, there are multiple styles of VSMS (media server) redundancy available, depending on the IP Camera matrix you intend to deploy.
There is currently nothing for *native* VSOM redundancy, aside from using VMWare High Availability when deploying VSM OVAs on Cisco UCS platform only.
There is much more that goes into a successful design and deployment than the information you have provided here. My personal recommendation is to leverage your local Cisco ATP partner, or, at a minimum, engage the Cisco PDI Helpdesk (http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/tools/pdihd.html)

We have RedHat VSOM 7.2 on our B-Series, and a combination of B-Series Media Servers running RedHat and MSP's running SLES. We've had no issues.
