Vsom Camera firmware upgrade?

I've manually upgraded the firmware on a couple of our cisco cameras on an as needed basis using the utility embedded in the camera.

Is using the camera's interface to upgrade the camera's firmware recommended or is there a better mechanism perphaps embedded in VSOM or a utility? Our network ops group would like a method that didn't require upgrading firmware manually.

Michael,

you can use VSOM management console to upgrade camera firmware in bulk. the procedure is below

1.)login in http:http://x.x.x.x/vsmc  where x.x.x.x is your vsom IP address.

2.)click on camera firmware upgrade from left side.

3.) select camera you want to upgrade and for firmware file you have 2 option either download it or give FTP details to download.

4.)click on start upgrade.

let me know if this help.

Thanks

Karan

Thanks Karan. A couple  more issues:

  1. When I log into vsmc, and look at the upgrade panel, I only see 18 Cisco 2421 cameras. We have approximately 150 of them. Similarly, I only see 3 HD-4300 cameras but we have about 20 of them. What do I have to do to make them all visilble to the driver updater?
  2. The 2421s and 2500s have been end-of-lifed. Where do I get the current drivers for them? Moreover, how do I search cisco.com effectively so I can find other drivers in the future? The search function doesn't seem to know about either camera.

Thanks,

Michael

Michael,

1.) the missing camera has been added to VSOM ? if yes are they on different subnet ?. if the project is in pre production phase you can create a PDI case here - http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/tools/pdi.html (must have any of the below certification).

* ATP Video Surveillance

* ATP IP Interoperability and Collaboration Systems

* ATP Access Control

2.)for supported camera series you can download firmware from here- http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?mode=prod&level0=280249565

for end of life camera series try the ciscoet web portal for partners, registaration required -

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?mode=prod&level0=280249565

Thanks

Karan

Yes all 245 cameras show up in VSOM.

I looked at the setup for a camera that's off the list versus one that's on. The difference isn't in the subnet setting but in that the cameras are on different servers. We have three servers dedicated to handling the 250+ camera. When I go to the firmware update page in the vsmc, I don't see a switch setting that enables me to choose between servers.

WHat would you suggest I do? We're not in pre-production phase - the project was handed off to me after the project had been accepted.

Thanks,

Michael

Michael,

sine PDI case cannot be open, i'll try to troubleshoot here as much as i can .

By 3 different server you mean 3 VSMS server right ? and you have one VSOM managing all 3 VSMS ?

if this is the case you do not need to change any switch setting.

you can also try cisco discovery and utility tool from below link -

http://www.ciscoet.com/filedownloader.asp?ID=496 .

Thanks

Karan

Hi Karan,

Do you have any notes on how to use the VSOM or a VSVM server as the FTP source for camera upgrades? I cannot seem to make the utility use SFTP. Haven't gone in to YAST yet to see if FTP is an option yet.

Any data you have on this is appreceiated.

M

Hi Mates,

Please can someone share a link to download the firmware of the Cisco IP camera CIVS-IPC-2500 series?
