Hello - I have looked at the related issues people have had with Protectlink & slowness with different routers. We are also experiencing these issue.
We have sped things up, by reviewing a packet capture for a couple of minutes when it was really bad, and getting rid of that chattering program Akamai Technologies software from peoples computers, but we still suffer random slowdowns. We are at the current firmware on the device, users are between 3-8 people, websites that are used for work have been whitelisted, but that does not seem to help when we do hit the slowdowns. (100% CPU usage and 65% Memory usage at these points.)
This may be a silly question, but is there a specific IP address that we should be using as the DNS server for the router, to help it work with protectlink in a more efficient manner? (Currently, we go with the standard of using our ISP's DNS servers.)
Thanks to all for a response

Hello,
As far as I know, there is no specific DNS server that go with protectlink. I suggest using other DNS servers for instance:

Hello. Sadly, this did not resolve anything. Users are still sometimes waiting for up to 5 minutes for things to happen. I'm beginning to think that this router and the Protect Link were just not made for each other.
Thank you for your response and time.

Hello,
You can always use Google's public DNS server which is 8.8.8.8.
Best Regards,

Hi, my memory may be fuzzy or outdated on this but one thing that may smooth things out is to go to the web protection and try the option "temporarily bypass url requests" on the overflow control.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for the replies. The temporary bypass on URL requests does help - unfortunately it defeats the purpose as about half the requests appear to be bypassed. We are now in the process of looking at a more suitable replacement options. Thanks again for all suggestions. -Rita
-Good Grief - meant to give you stars Tom, and ended up with the first posting of this message hitting stars in this message. What a goof.
