Hi,
Hope somebody can help me on this. My use case is very simple I want to connect iPhone/iPad using pptp to my home network. I purchased the 180W and looks like I am not able to connect mobile devices to it.
My Setup is simple I have ST536v6 (firmware 7.4.4) modem in bridge mode and Cisco RV 180W connect to my ISP using Ppoe. I followed the Admin guide and created the pptp user. If I connect from internal network it connects but when I try to connect the device from WAN it just does not work.
Hope somebody can point me to correct the issue I am facing.
Cisco RV 180W
Firmware Version: | 1.0.1.9 |

Hi Inder, as long as the RV180 has a public IP address on the WAN interface, there shouldn't be any problems. I'd recommend you double check what IP address the WAN of the RV180 is reporting.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for replying. That is the basic check I have already done. I was successful in connecting using quickvpn but thats not my use case and I may not even use it.
Not sure what is causing this issue. has anybody tried and successfully connect to PPTP server from WAN Interface?

Inder, it shouldn't be a problem. I know I have connected from different computer OS and my HTC phone. Can you connect with a computer from the outside network at all?

Just want to update about this issue. I tested the VPN uisng the windows pc and it works fine without an issue. While searching for the this issue, I came accross a thread about users having issue with iPhone PPTP vpn on testra network
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1992004
and user are able to work around by changing the APN of the network and able to connect to PPTP VPN. I could find the different APN for my provider and then it works without an issue. So if anybody having issue loging to PPTP VPN from iPhone please see if your provider has different setting for APN and change it and try connecting to the server. No reboot is required, I think the reboot will change the setting back (not sure about this, I never rebooted ny iPhone )
You can find APN here
Settings > General > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Network
Hope this helps.
