RV042 Load Balancing not working correctly?

CTS-Tech1

We have an RV042 on firmware version 1.3.13.02 and 2 ISPs:

WAN1 = Telepacific T1

1.5Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up

WAN2 = AT&T U-Verse

12Mbps down and 5Mbps up

I have it set to Load Balance, Primary WAN = WAN2

Network Service Detection enabled, only pinging the Remote Host of 4.2.2.2 and set to Generate Log

Bandwidth is set to:

WAN1 = 1000Kbps upstream & downstream

WAN2 = 5040Kbps upstream & 12000Kbps downstream

It seems to pick WAN1 a lot of the time.  Do I have something setup wrong?

I have the same problem with an Rv016, it ALLWAYS takes the slowest WAN connection, I have also tried QoS and does not work I have set up a coplete segment to go to the fastest WAN and it does not work!

I have set port 80 to go to the fastest WAN and does not work either. BUGS!

Any progress?

hello,

Is there any protocol binding setup?

On mine - no.

CTS

If protocol binding isn't set up then it will rotate sending packets out each wan. So you’ll probably want to set up protocol binding for certain ranges and protocols.

Ok, so what do you recommend? To setup binding for ports important to direct over say… WAN1 (my fast access) shall I also keep the bandwidth management set up as is, example:

For me it’s confusing because this config appears to be clear to me that has to control traffic the way I want .

Thanks for your response.

In your picture you're showing me that you set up Priority or QoS for your WAN selections. Protocol binding is a set of rules that will bind particular traffic out one or the other wan port.

My example is from a Version 1 you have version 2 - just might look little different. How you get to it under System management -->click dual wan--> now click on the configure wan1 or wan 2 under protocol binding.

For example I am trying this one for port 80 all over internet, let me know if it is correct:

Hi,

One thing wrong is the destination••à should be all 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 you have 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255

So once you fix that everyone within source range 192.168.1.60-149 will get sent out of WAN1

Jasbryan

Thank you, I changed to 0.0.0.0 on both and I will test it , I will let you know.

Regards.

So it doesn't load balance by the up/down bandwidth you set for each WAN?

CTS,

No its not policy based load balancing. bandwidth will just restrict the amount of data settings as you specified. Next new model router will have this feature. (Policy based routing)
