One day, my rv042 started emitting a very high pitched sound. The lights will flash upon powerup, but not act normal (indicate link, etc). The router cannot be accessed at all.
I changed the power supply to a known working one to eliminate that--didn't help. Any ideas? Any thoughts appreciated.

I recently tried turning this on again with a higher ampage power supply. It finally booted and was able issue dhcp, but was not able to route any traffic over the wan. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Samir, It's not normal and sounds defective. You should call in to the support center and ask for replacement if you have hardware warranty. I wouldn't put more than 12v 1amp power to it, it's not designed for more.

It's well out of warranty unfortunately. As far as the power supply, if something requires 12v 1a and you give it a 12v 3.3a power supply (like I'm doing), it won't draw any more than 1amp.
Well, looks like I have a kinda squealy 4 port swtich on my hands.

I found several companies that will repair this at a reasonable rate. I'm going to send it to them for repair in the next week or so.
