RV345 Vlan help

I currently have an RV345 setup with different Vlan's, setting each port to untagged where I want to use that Vlan.  I am thinking of putting in a secondary switch like a SG250 to allow some devices on 2 different vlan's the communicate on, so if I make Firewall changes, or have downtime on the main router, these devices will still function properly.  I currently have a dumb switch doing this for 1 vlan.  I am unsure how to configure the RV345 and the currently unpurchased SG250.  I'm hoping to have RV345 connect to SG250 with 1 port and pass both vlan's over it that I want, then set each port on the SG250, to one Vlan or another.

Does that design make sense, and could someone help me understand how to pull it off.

Thanks,

Chris Aitken

Make a small diagram of how exciting setup and what is you intend to do final stage.

are you going to replace the dumb hub?

Hello Chris,

This is a typical network deployment so you can always connect L2, basic L3 switch like SG250 to your RV345 and benefit the VLAN segmentation. You should configure the VLANs on the switch and make the port to the RV a trunk port. Also have to enable inter-VLAN routing on the RV.

For more information on how to configure these you can use the following guides:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/smb/switches/cisco-350-series-managed-switches/smb5827-configure-vlan-interface-settings-on-a-sx350-sg350x-or-sx550.html

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/smb/routers/cisco-rv-series-small-business-routers/smb5479-configure-a-virtual-local-area-network-vlan-settings-on-an-r.html
