For this image you should have a minimum of 128MB RAM and 64 MB Flash.

With your 32 MB CF-card in the router, you can't load that image that is 33 MB in size.

After upgrading the CF-card, you should directly use 15.1(4)M10 where many more bugs are fixed then in 15.1(4)M5.

for the above NVRAM memory is considerable?

my NVRAM memory is 191kb only i think?

how do i check my total RAM size in cisco 1841?

It's the RAM, not the NVRAM:

Cisco 1841 (revision 6.0) with 114688K/16384K bytes of memory.

You have 128 MB RAM.

this is our NVRAM details

Router#dir nvram:startup-config
Directory of nvram:/startup-config

  190  -rw-         633                    <no date>  startup-config

196600 bytes total (193862 bytes free)

whether this NVRAM memory is ok for VPN ?or we need to increase our NVRAM memory?

You can't upgrade the NVRAM. And typically the NVRAM size is perfectly fine.

You just have to get a bigger CF-card (up to 1GB should work without problems) and a RAM-upgrade for actual IOS-versions. When I upgraded my 1841s, I used Kingston KVR-133X64SC3/256.

can i install "1841-advsecurityk9-mz.15.1(4)M6 ios to my cisco 2821 router?

also i have installed 64 Mb CF to my router and my ios is 50 mb that i m currently running on,but i need to install a new ios memory of 40Mb.so how can i install my 40 mb ios with the 64mb flash?

The file name shows you for which platform the image is. The "1841-..." Image is only for the ISR 1841.

If your flash is too small to hold two images, you have to upgrade the flash or delete the running image before loading the new one.

thanks a lot.

i have deleted the iOS from flash.but now it is in rommon mode.not able to install  a new iOS to that flash using tftpdnld in rommon.

and also if i give that in rommon mode ,it shows already configured address for DHCP server as 10.1.1.1?

Do you have reloaded before the new image was loaded to the router? Then of course the router goes to ROMMON as there is no valid image available.

The easiest way to recover is to connect the CF-Card to your PC with a CF-reader and copy the new image to the CF-card.

thank you,

i have deleted my flash using command "delete flash:"

before i deleting my IOS i issued show flash: and it lists all files with IOS file.

after i delete the flash then i downloaded IOS image to flash after that i gave the show flash command and i m only able to see IOS image ,not the below files"i.e:sdmconfig-2811.cfg,es.tar,common.tar,home.shtml,home.tar,128MB.sdf,securedesktop-ios-3.1.1.45-k9.pkg,sslclient-win-1.1.4.176.pkg"

could you plz tell me what are these files,

in my new flash i m having my IOS only, the above bolded files are not present. Is it a problem?

The mentioned files are not needed for normal operation. They belong to a (really bad) GUIANA and for some remote-access-VPN.

You only need your IOS for normal operation.

so if i want to use VPN(site to site or client vpn) in that router which file i need to have in my flash?and if i deleted where do i get from?

You need an Advaced Security image which can be downloaded from Cisco.com when you have a valid support-contract. If you don't have one, contact your local cisco-reseller.

i have installed this IOS,it will support for vpn services or not?
