1921 router HW problem????

Hello everyone!

I bought a used router 1921 on ebay. When I power on the router the console message loops with the message:

System Bootstrap, Version 15.0(1r)M12, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Total memory size = 512 MB
PCIe: Port 0 link timeout
Failed to initialize CPU PCIe controller !!
PCIE init fail. Goofy will not be intialized!

*** Bus Error (Load) Exception ***
Access address = 0x100a
PC = 0x8043a6fc, SP = 0xffff98d8, RA = 0x8042e598
Cause Reg = 0x4000801c, Status Reg = 0x504080e3
ROM Monitor Can Not Recover From Exception
A Board Reset Is Issued

I just can't find any useful info regarding what kind of error are we talking about... It looks like a HW issue... Any clues and hints anyone?

Pop the lid open.

Remove the DRAM and use a can of compressed air and squirt the slot.

And I do hope this works.

Hello again!

Did what "leolahoo" suggested, no succes!

To be ohnest, I was sceptical in the start about the "air scenario", because the inside of the box router was very clean, no dust particles, anything. Anyway, removed the DRAM connection, squrted the connector and started the router without it (as I found out this is the procedure when pass recovery is needed because of a bug - see http://hope.mx/break-sequence-on-a-cisco1921)

The amber light starts immediatelly, so I presume we're looking at the HW problem... When I put the DRAM back in the slot nothing changed...

Next step? Any suggestions?

PCIE means your DRAM module. As I've posted before, pop the lid, remove the DRAM and make sure the pins are clean and insert back. If problem persists, RMA the hardware.
