2801 Integrated Services Router w/AC & PE

Hi there! I'm new to this whole thing. I recently obtained a retired 2801 from a pawn shop. I've powered it on and got lights and verified that it actually works (did an NMAP scan to ensure ports were actually open)

I've ran into some issues though. I can't reset it to the factory defaults. I've tried everything from attempting to connect (console port to my ethernet port) as well as attempt to SERIAL/TELNET in (both were unsuccessful)

WHAT HAVE I DONE?

  1. I've attempted to connect to it using RJ45 from Console to my computer through IP
  2. I've attempted to connect to it using RJ45 from AUX to my computer (guide said to try)
  3. I've attempted to connect to it from F/E 0/1 to my computer (as a wildcard)
  4. I've attempted to connect to it using RJ45 from console using serial
  5. I've attempted to connect to it using RJ45 from console using TELNET

I did a bit of digging on the software. I've discovered it's dd-wrt v24 and not standard cisco software and I couldn't find any real guides to dd-wrt v24.

I know that this hardware is VERY old and considered 'obselete' by some but where I'm at and how much usage my household gets, this is very over the top for us. If anyone can help with getting it reset and/or obtaining the motherboard diagrams that would be greatly helpful! I've attempted to use the waybackmachine to find the documentation but I've come up empty handed.

Thanks

I agree with @Kasun Bandara that you need a console connection from router to your computer. I have not watched the link he provided and it may very well cover these things but here are some things to be aware of:

- the console connection on the router is RJ45 but an standard Ethernet cable does not work. You need a "console" cable. The standard Cisco console cable is the blue cable which connects to an async connector on the computer. If your computer does not have that type of connector then there are various USB products available to provide the console connection.

- once you have established a console connection it is likely that the router is configured to require a password to access the router. There is a password recovery procedure for the router that would allow you to access the router and then to create your own new configuration.

I've confirmed that it's an RJ45. It's also not the default Cisco Software (So I'm trying to find a way to reset the flash memory on it). It's DD-WRT v24 (found through NMAP scanning its ports)

The router does not have a serial port on it. The exact model (with pictures) is shown below.

you need to use console port. its names as ;console; using blue color. you can use rj45 console cable.

The cable i use is the usb to rj45 console cable.  Windows didn't see my device in device manager until i update my computer with windows update.  Windows Version 22H2 (19045.2364) is my current windows version.

Once the driver issue was fixed then i could see "USB Serial Port (COM3)" under Ports in Device Manager.

Use the PuTTy application select Serial option button and type COM3 to connect.  you will type the COM # that was shown in Device Manager. (this works for Console connections, which is the name of the port label on the Cisco device)
