I added a VWIC2 1MFT-T1/E1 card to my 2901 router. There were two in it already, and I need to add a 3rd circuit. After installing the card, the boot process sees the new card, but once it is completely booted, the new card is nowhere to be found. I've swapped cards around to no avail. The new card works fine in one of the slots that had the existing cards in it.
From the boot sequence, I can see:
Smart Init is enabled
smart init is sizing iomem
TYPE MEMORY_REQ
HWIC Slot 0 0x00200000
HWIC Slot 1 0x00200000
HWIC Slot 2 0x00200000 <-- New card - same when I had it in Slot 3
Onboard devices &
buffer pools 0x0228F000
-----------------------------------------------
TOTAL: 0x0288F000
Rounded IOMEM up to: 44Mb.
Using 8 percent iomem. [44Mb/512Mb]
As well as:
Cisco CISCO2901/K9 (revision 1.0) with 479232K/45056K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FTX134981AF
2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
3 Channelized (E1 or T1)/PRI ports <-- 3 total cards
1 Virtual Private Network (VPN) Module
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity enabled.
255K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
254464K bytes of ATA System CompactFlash 0 (Read/Write)
But once it is up, I do a show ver or show hardware, and see the following:
Cisco CISCO2901/K9 (revision 1.0) with 479232K/45056K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FTX134981AF
2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
2 Serial interfaces
2 Channelized T1/PRI ports
1 Channelized (E1 or T1)/PRI port
1 Virtual Private Network (VPN) Module
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity enabled.
255K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
254464K bytes of ATA System CompactFlash 0 (Read/Write)
Is this a config issue? I'm going to start going over it with a fine tooth comb, but could use some direction.
Rounded IOMEM up to: 44Mb.Using 8 percent iomem. [44Mb/512Mb]

Have you configured the card with the "card type" command ? If not then you need to specify it -

No - that looks like the problem. I hadn't pored through the config yet to see what was done for the others, and when I did a show config it even gave me a comment stating that I need to do that - lol. Just goes to show you to check the config first... gotta love inheriting things other people set up. :-P
