3750x LAN Base vlan quantity question

Hello everyone!

I've got a 3750x with Lan base feature set. the datasheet clearly says "The LAN Base feature set includes comprehensive Layer 2 features, with up-to 255 VLANs."

When I configure vlans from VTP Range (2-1000) i can't create more than 254 vlan IDs. However i can create up to 1005 (platform limit) vlans using extended vlan ID Range, and this is confusing.

Before putting switch in production I would like to know how switch will behave if I create more than 255 vlans? will it forward traffic for all configured vlans?

Thank you.

  • Switches running the LAN base feature set support only 255 VLANs, not 1024 VLANs as shown in all templates.

thank you, cflory!

I understand that there is a vlan limit. what I still do not understand is how does vlan quantity limitation works. because i can create all 1005 vlans on LAN Base switch using standard and extended vlan ID ranges.
