Hi,
ive been trying to find the temperatures at wich the fans on the 3845 router will engage the highspeed fans?
as we have some of these routers installed at branch offices, and they are engaging the loud fans. we are trying to determine at what temp this is supposed to happen, so we can devise a cooling solution to keep them quiet.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I believe the 3845 fan speed only has one setting: loud.
It is done on purpose to keep the components cool.

it does have variable speeds, occaisonally you would hear the router fire up louder for a few moements, then quiten down a little.

Hi, cisco specifies 58 dBa maximum:

You have to design router installation for the worst case figure. In any case, none of the ISR routers from 2801 and above are intended to be in the same area as humans.
