4507 core switch BW limit question

Dear all,
I have core switch (WS-C4507R-E ) version as stated below:
(cat4500e-IPBASE-M), Version 12.2(53)SG1- (cat4500e-ipbase-mz.122-53.SG1.bin)
it has a wan interface bandwidth 100MBPS, i need to limit/force the interface to use only 15MBPS for all traffic passing through this interface with no priority to any protocol.
I tried to use rate-limit and service-policy outputs commands as the router but commands are not acceptable.
I need a solution for all traffic passing via the interface with no more 15MBPS.
Do i need ios upgrade for the core switch or license or nbar ????

thanks all.

Mohammed,

For the IOS version you are using, the switch should be fine with accepting the usual MQC syntax, that is, define a class-map, then create a policy-map that uses a policer to limit the traffic in the given class, and then apply the policy-map to the incoming interface. Can you post the exact output of the switch when you try to do this?

The QoS guide for 12.2(53)SG is available at

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12-2/53SG/configuration/config/qos.html

It is a lengthy document, though.

Also, what is the exact type of the supervisor and linecards? Perhaps you could post the output of show inventory to help us understand the particular hardware setup you are using.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks Peter for your replay,

If the ios version is ok, why the interface command service-policy output cannot be applied under the interface???

I`ll send you show inventory later as requested,,,

regards,

Mohammed,

Can you describe in more detail what exactly do you mean by "the interface command service-policy output cannot be applied under the interface"? Ideally, can you either make a screenshot, or save the session where you try to configure that command into a text file, and post it here?

Best regards,
Peter

Hi again Peter,
I mean in the core switch when i enter to the giga interface mode CS(config-if)#, the command service-police is not recognizable, not defined.
will it be enabale after i enable the qos globally or how to make it appear???

Hi @Mohammed Al-odhari

tell me the command by which you are configuring BW on interface. "Service Policy Output" because this command needs to create a class have you created?

share the configuration please
