Hi Binoy,

You need to buy/get a LRE (Long Reach Ethernet) switch to use the CPE.

Need more info: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps4916/products_data_sheet09186a0080105985.html

hi jhalldn,

thanks for your input.so if i purchase one 2950-LRE XL, is it possible to connect this particular switch to a normal 2950-XL.using a cross cable. From LRE Ethernet port to normal ethernet port uplink is possible or not.

Hi again!

The LRE switch has two GE port (10/100/1000). With one of this you can connect to a normal switch with crossover cable. If you want to use the LRE side, you need a CPE to "terminate" to a ethernet port. CPE uses xDSL between LRE switch, so that Ethernet and ordinarie Telephone service can run over it.
