Hi,
In 6500 switch if the command boot system disk0:......bin points to a non existing filename in the disk and switch is reloaded what can be the possible result?
Will it load the whatever available image in the disk (file_name.bin) or it will drop to rommon> prompt.
If it comes to romom can we manualy boot the switch by giving boot command with correct path and correct filename ? If this works will it cause any problem while loading the startup configuration which has "incorrect" boot file name specified !!
Please share the experience.
Thanks

If you have specifically told it to boot a certain image with the boot system ... command and that image does not exist it will go into ROMMON mode. Be aware that you can specify multiple boot system commands in the running config and the switch will try them in order.
Yes, you can specify the correct image to boot from ROMMON and no it won't create a problem if there is a different boot system flash command but you should change it when the switch is up and running.
