I am trying to add a COX fiber connection to route via 3660. Have tried to connect it via a cross over cable to a Cisco 3500 switch port. The address of the switch and 3660 is 10.254.1.X and the tera wave traffic will be 10.5.196.X.

Hello,
how is the fiber coming in (that is, what equipment has COX put at your location) ? Is the link on the switchport of the 3500 up when you connect the fiber ? Regarding the IP address, the switch would be irrelevant, the IP addressing and routing would need to be done on the 3660. Typically, there should be an interface on the 3660 with an IP address from the same subnet as the tera wave traffic...
Regards,
GP

The equipment would be the terra wave, supposedly this is just a transparent LAN service. There is no interface in the 3660, the two 'meet' in the 3500 switch. The fiber comes in and we take a cross over cable to the 3500 from the ENET port on the Terra Wave. No matter what routing statement I try, I still cannot ping the router.
