I cannot find instructions on how to use the latest 4.0.18 ADSL firmware on an 887 router.
I've downloaded adsl_alc_20190_4.0.018.bin from the website and copied it to flash, but cannot find any instructions on applying the firmware. Tried rebooting but made no difference.
What commands, etc, am I meant to use to make use of this ADSL firmware release ?
Thank you in advance.
Roger.

Assuming the 887 behaves like the 877/857, the file has to be renamed to:
adsl_alc_20190.bin
and then you reboot.

You shouldn't have to do anything other than copy the file into flash and then reboot. The router should see the .bin file in flash and use that instead of the one built into the IOS.
How are you determining it is not using the new firmware. Perhaps you could simply upgrade the IOS with the new firmware you want to use built in ?

Jon,
Below are the edited outputs from both the flash and the dsl status. If I'm reading this correctly then the DSL is still using the 4.0.15, not 4.0.18 that I wish to test.
Roger.

Renaming the file did the trick, it's using the new firmware now.
I'd renamed it previously, but what to change it to was incorrect.
Thank you for your help
Roger.

Hi Roger,
I just came across your post about the latest ADSL firmware for 887 router. Can you tell me where I can find FW version
4.0.18 from? I can find 4.0.17 on Cisco website but have difficulty spoting 4.0.18.
Let me know.
Cheers,
A.
