Hi, I am having an issue with Cisco 1812j Router.
I have 2 1812j router.
One router I accidentally lost the password so I reset the password as following link.
After that I could not submit "dialer" command.
Like this.
c1812j-01(config)#int bri0
c1812j-01(config-if)#d?
dampening default delay description
dot1q dot1x down-when-looped dxi
c1812j-01(config-if)#
There is no choice to use "dialer" command.
The other Router is as below which looks ok.
c1812j-02(config)#int bri0
c1812j-02(config-if)#d?
dampening default delay description
dialer dialer-group dot1q dot1x
down-when-looped dxi
I guess I did something wrong to reset the unit.
I would like to know how to fix this problem.
Thanks
Sean

I am glad that you got the router back to recognizing the dialer commands. It looks like setting the router back to factory default cleared whatever was wrong. I do not have any good suggestion at this time what the problem was. I am not sure what command would suppress the dialer commands on the BRI interface. Was this router configured with dialer commands under the BRI before the password recovery process?

Hi Sean
Can you check and confirm whether both the routers are running the same IOS version ? you can make use of show version to check the same.
If not try to load the correct ios version on the resetted router to get the right IOS back to configure dialer related commands.

I agree with this post that it is possible that in resetting the password you may have caused the router to load and run a different image and the different image does not support the functionality of dialer.
In addition to the output of show version, I believe that it would be helpful to post the output of show flash so that we can see if more than one image is in flash and what the feature sets of the images are.

Ok, Now I am able to fix the problem.
What I did,
I just "reset to Factory Default" by using CP Express.
After that I can see "Dialer" command.
Well, But I am wondering what is the best way to reset the setting.
I will continue to open this ticket next a few more days.
Thanks

Hi, Richard.
I have not setup anything.
I just bought router and login as "cisco" account but I could not create new account before the session expire.
So that I could not login as "cisco" account anymore.
Then I reset the router.
So I do not have a chance to change any configuration before reset.
I will keep in mind when reset the router next time.
Thanks
Sean

That can be due to the fact that you did not had "isdn switch-type" configured.

Paolo
That is a helpful observation (+5 for this). I had not thought about the possibility of the switch type not being configured and how that impacts other configuration alternatives.
