Has anyone ever tried this; Bonded T1s with 8 channels of 1 T1 used for voice? I don't have much other information now so I am thinking that with CAS and PRI signaling this is doable however with PRI a MUX might be required.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

I am not very sure whether this setup will work. Because the PRI will work on a ondemand basis and hence bonding 8 channels of a PRI for Voice will not be a good option. For Voice traffic I suggest that you go for always on connections like a PVC or a Leased line...

Hi,
yes,you can certainly run Multilink PPP on that as for the load balancing. What you need to do is go to the controllers e1 in config mode and set the parameters there for the full t1. then go the controlllers e1 to the fractional T1 and set the parametrs for both the voice and data slots using the channel-group and then assiging the time slots taken from ISP. This thing will work but when the primary full T1 goes down it will choke your fractional T1 data but not the voice at all. you voice traffic will not effected.
Config :
For full T1
controller T1 6/1
framing ESF
channel-group 0 timeslots 1-23
for fractional T1
controller T1 7/5
framing ESF
channel-group 0 timeslots 1-4
channel-group 1 timeslots 6-9
channel-group 2 timeslots 10-23
interface s6/1:0
no ip address
ppp multilink
mulilink-group 1
interface s7/5:0
no ip address
ppp multilink
mulilink-group 1
interface multilink
ip address x.x.x.1
ppp multilink
multilink-group 1
please make sure that you have fractional t1 on both the sides.

Thanks for the feed back this helps.
Question:
Does voice signaling become a problem and no MUX required? I thougth that with PRI signaling a MUX would be required however with CAS, no MUX?
Thanks,
Curt

well, it depends on how ISP gives you the connections. Usually Mux is there with the PRI's.
Voice singaling will not be a problem as you are assigning different time slots for voice.
