Anyone know what AIS is and what could cause Receiver is getting AIS

Anyone have any idear what could be cuasing the issue is it a Telco issue?

E1 0/0/0 is down.

Applique type is Channelized E1 - balance

Description: BT ISDN-30 IMBT Pilot

Transmitter is sending remote alarm.

Receiver is getting AIS.

alarm-trigger is not set 

Version info Firmware: 20060711, FPGA: 13, spm_count = 0

Framing is CRC4, Line Code is HDB3, Clock Source is Line.

CRC Threshold is 320. Reported from firmware  is 320.

AIS usually just means that you get an Alarm from a Telco device which means the line is not operationl, see the link for troubleshootin process.

Just FYI.  AIS stands for Alarm Info Signal and as they indicated it is the carrier sending you an alert that a facility alarm is being generated.  In some cases depending on the type of facility you may also get alerts such as CGA_Red (carrier Group Alarm_Red) which indicates the actual severity of the alarm.  Normally you should see something following an AIS alarm.  It all just depends on how your facility carrier is setup to deliver the alerts and how you are setup to receive and interpret them.
