Hi Guys,
Wondering anyone has issue on memory. I have 16gb router but I'm unable to get more than 3.5gb processor memory. Redundancy mode is none. any idea?

Hi
Could you please set the following variables in the Rommon mode:
unset ENABLE_VTX DISABLE_VTX=1 sync
Once this is done, boot up the router and let me know if that helps.
If i recall correctly, starting version XE 3.8, there is a separate memory space for VM's is allocated for 3rd party application hosting on the ASR1k. Thus resulting in less memory being allocated for IOSd process.
Also, Note that You wont be able to see 16G memory being available as part of show memory summary or statistics output. If you notice the command output that i requested before, it clearly shows 16G memory.

Hope this Helps.

I wondering whether it is due to my default 5gbps esp license causing unable to view full 8gb router memory?

Hi
Could you please check the output of below command:
- show plat software status control-processor brief
- show platform

Hi VJ,
Thanks!! Its working! How can i repay your kindness?
Im now seeing full 8gb from the router memory.
I hope in future others can solve their problem by reading this article using your solution.
Thank you for explaining the new XE 64bits memory architecture. Now i see the reason why the vtx is enabled in order to run other vm on it.
