Hi,
If WAN routing was BGP - is there a way to only advertise the route for an HSRP hateway-ed subnet from the active HSRP router (so the passive is not advertised at all).
The goal is to ensure symmetric routing - this is similar to a two ISP configuration with HSRP and BGP but - but the main concern is incoming routing from the WAN rather than load balancing outgoing (it is one provider)

You would normally advertise out both, but use MED or route-prepending to prefer one circuit over the other.

What would be a (preferably elegant) solution to advertising only the active side of HRSP dynamically)?

Hi;
The preferable solution is to advertise the Route from both Active/Standby Router and using BGP attribute for selection incoming and outgoing traffic. e.g local-preference, MED, AS-prepend.
Thanks

can any of these be tied to HSRP - in a way that wherever HSRP active resides ends up being published as a preferred route?
