I have 2 connections to the ISP with iBGP peering between my router and the ISP's router.
Now one of the connections is a directly connected route, while the other connection (backup) is tunnel interface goes through 2 hops to the same router with higher AD.
When the main link (the directly connected one) goes down the bgp will take up to 3 minutes in order to fail-over to the tunnel interface even if I enable BGP fall-over.
If I bring down the physical interface (main link) then the bgp would fail-over in 3 seconds.
How would I bring down the physical interface based on object tracking?

Hi Mohammed,
with Object tracking , you cant bring the physical interface down.
you have one of two options:
1- change the timers to a lower value.
2- use BGP next-hop tracking feature.

When changing the timers to lower value it will take too long to realize that the neighbor cant be reached through the physical interface, since the interface is in up/up or up/down state.
2- use BGP next-hop tracking feature.
This case is the same as the one described above.
I do remember a solution where you can bring a physical interface down with unnumbered IP on it, but it was for serial interface (in my case its ethernet). I remember Brian Dennis from internetwork experts describing a way to do it, but I lost that CBT now.
