Could be an IOS bug. Go to the Cisco Bug Toolkit and punch in your IOS version and see if the error message you're seeing appears.

Thanks for your information but I cannot find any ios bug related to this error message. Could I know whether the threshold value can be change ? I can see the threshold is only 22. Is it a default value ?

Cheers

Hi all,

Could anyone know what the issue is ? I can see system temperature and system FAN are normal

Mar 10 21:58:49.582 UTC: %ENVMON-1-CPU_CORE_WARNING_OVERTEMP: Warning: CPU core is very hot value = 18. It exceeds threshold 22. Please resolve system cooling immediately to prevent system damage

Post the output to the command "sh env temp" and "sh env all".

Part of this question is the following log message:

%ENVMON-1-CPU_CORE_WARNING_OVERTEMP: Warning: CPU core is very hot value = 18. It exceeds threshold 22. Please resolve system cooling immediately to prevent system damage.

There is a real problem being reported here. When the 3900e was developed they used an inverted value for the temperature which CSCum99304 should eventually address. To find the true temperature you take the max value of 101 and subtract from there. So in the example message the current real value is 83C and the threshold is 79C. In other words the CPU is really outside of the normal range. As the current value goes down the problem is actually getting worse. For example the person who had the log message with a current value of 10 equates to 91C.

Hi,

Even I have the same message coming up and one more warning message comes up (modem signal transitons)

%HWIC_SERIAL-3-LINEFLAP: Excessive modem signal transitions detected on line 5

%ENVMON-1-CPU_CORE_WARNING_OVERTEMP: Warning: CPU core is very hot value = 10. It exceeds threshold 20. Please resolve system cooling immediately to prevent system damage

What could be the issue ?

Chinar

I'm getting this same issue, did anyone find an answer?

System image file is "flash0:c3900e-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M5.bin"

Actually thinking about this there's no way the CPU can be at a similar temperature as the intake air.....

It looks like it's faulty fan assembly with 3925 chassis.
Has anyone tried replacing FAN assembly of 3925-Terminal Server?
