Do you mean CAN bus ? which is "a controller area network"
If so, so the standard converters are NOT working as routers, they are in the physical layer of the OSI model as they are used to convert electrical signals and physical media, but don’t do anything for data changes (as the fiber optical multimedia converters).
Which means that you can consider them the same area using the same IP address range.
Note, that some converters have more higher functions than just converting the signals, so maybe you have to provide us the model of the used converter so that we can be more confident regarding the info.
