 - Normally not directly possible and or not standard supported in IOS or other, advanced knowledge on show tech-support may give insights, not sure though.

I think so. I didn't see it in show tech either.

Hello ,

the answer is platform dependent.

On a Cisco 6500  (Native IOS all IOS ) you can use

session X

to access the shell of a linecard and then you can issue a

show proc memory

On IOS XR distributed platforms  like an ASR9006 there should be something similar.

In the case of Catalyst 6500 the most important check is to use

show module

you need to verify that daughet cards of type DFC are aligned with PFC type on supervisor or there is a risk that one or more linecards are not able to handle the whole CEF table causing software based routing.

This is the major concern also when you need to replace a failed linecard.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

thanks for your response!

Cloud you tell me how to use “session x” commands ?As your meaning, whether is “Router# session switch 1 slot 4 processor 1”?

Hello,

my personal experience was based on standalone C6500 where using a show module you could fine the module #.

If you have a VSSpair  things are more complex it shoud be possible to use session 4 if switch 1 RP is the master for the VSS pair.

Another important point that I have noticed on stack of C3750 is that the session X command may support telnet only so you may need to allow also telnet on the vty to be able to access the modules.

I'm not sure you can access modules on the standby chassis in a VSS

Hope to help

Giuseppe
