Cannot configure 6th class in Policy-map - thought limit was 256?

When trying to

build a policy map (of classes with service-policies or HQoS style) I an unable to create any more than 5 class entries.  Is this a limit I can adjust somewhere?

seems no matter what I try  I get the error

% class map my-class-name not configured

on the 6th class in the policy map.

Is there a way around this or a technique of acheiving the same in another manner?

Hi

That's the error you get if you try to add a class-map to a policy-map, wihtout first configuring the class-map at the global level.

Are you sure that's not what you are doing?

yup, ok I've been staring at this stuff too long.  You are correct, I fat fingered the name.
