Cannot ping router from PC using a L3 switch

Hi,

I am practicing for my CCNA and I have set up a layer 3 switch in packet tracer with a few pc's and on 2 different VLANS and a DHCP server.

I can ping everything on the network from any of the pc's including the switch but I cannot ping the router. I can't see what I have missed, I have attached the packet tracer file. Could someone take a look, its driving me nuts!

Thanks

Hello @purple12

Please add default static route on Router R1:

After that, you will be able to ping 192.168.5.1 from PCs

Best regards

You're so welcome @purple12

When you ping from PCs this IP [192.168.5.1] hosted on that Router R1, the echo-request reach this IP but, the resposne, e.g. the echo-reply from R1's IP address towards PC's IP is not routed since you have no route on your routing table! The fact that you configure a default route towards Sw L3 send the echo-reply to that L3 Swtich!

You could be more effective if you add this route on R1 instead of default route:
