Why do I need CEF and Fast Switching on a router ?
Does CEF support Policy Based Routing and QoS?

You need CEF and Fast Switching on a router because they improve its performance. Without them the router would forward all packets in process switching mode and performance in process switching mode is much lower than in Fast Switching or CEF modes.
CEF does support Policy Based Routing and QoS.

I can see two caches.
show ip cache (fast switching)
sh ip cef (dont remember the exact command
