Change active SUP720 to standby hot

Hi,

after a long uptime we notice some memory leaks in our 6509 with two SUP720-3BXL (SSO mode) inside. We do not want to reboot the whole chassis but change from active to the current standby SUP. My question is:

If we change nondisruptive to the current standby SUP, can we get a "fresh" memory or do the memory leaks will also apply to the "new" SUP? Currently the SUP will use 93% of the avalible memory. My thought was to switch to the (current) standy SUP and emulate a chassis reboot and have more memory availible. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Thomas

That may not work i have tried that before and the memory issue still persisted on a dual SUP720 , best off upgrading the effected sup to a newer IOS version  , the only real way to clear a memory leak is upgrade or full reboot which clears all memory buffers sometimes only temporarily , the leak could be coming from a line card rather than you sups
