Cisco 1130ag Access Point Image Upgrade

humair.amil
Level 1
Level 1

Hi all,

I was just trying to upgrade my first cisco access point at home. I am a bit lost...

a) I can't run "conf t" command.

b) It seems to have ver 3 or ver 4 lwapp image running on it.

c) keeps rebooting itself when it starts up and says "certificate is invalid"

I am attaching some screenshots, if you could have a look when you have a minute and guide me in the right direction then I will be highly grateful to you.

Thanks.

What are you trying to do?

Your AP is running controller-based IOS (RCV) and the only way for you to upgrade this firmware is when you upgrade the firmware of the controller.

When you upgrade the firmware of the controller, the controller will determine if the APs attached to the controller should synchronize their firmware with the controller or not.  If they do, the controller will push the correct firmware to the APs.

I am trying to upgrade the AP so that it uses 7.3 LWAPP image version. I need to run that so that it could connect to the Cisco Virtual Wireless LAN Controller.

My Cisco vWLC is already on the 7.4 version but the Access Points still fails to connect to it or download image from it.

I am trying to upgrade the AP so that it uses 7.3 LWAPP image version. I need to run that so that it could connect to the Cisco Virtual Wireless LAN Controller.

No you don't.

Let the AP join the WLC and the WLC will take care of the firmware of the AP.

Leo,

The AP keeps rebooting itself. The WLC picks it up for a second but looses it again. On the AP console I can see errorr messages "Certificate is not valid" etc.

I will try and post the screen shot of error message that it is giving me.

So this is the error that I get. The AP reboots everytime after displaying that error message.

"No more AP Manager IP Addresses remaining" is the vital error message.

How many APs can your WLC support and how many are currently registered?

Post the following command outputs:

1.  WLC:  sh sysinfo;

2.  WLC:  sh time;

3.  AP:  sh version; and

4.  AP:  sh inventory

PS:  Don't post screenshots.  Copy-and-paste the result here or in a notepad.

Configured Country............................... US  - United States

Your WLC is configured for the US, regulatory domain of "-A".

Product/Model Number                 : AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9

Your AP has a regulatory domain of Europ, "-E".

These are the main reasons why your AP won't join the WLC.

Exactly WHERE are you planning to install the AP?  What country?

I am going to deploy it in the UK. Just trying to build a home lab to practice before taking the CCNA Wireless exam.

How would I change this on the Controller to match the AP settings?

Thank you for your help.

Leo,

Sorry for the late reply. I have made changes as advised by yourself but I am still getting the same error message. Could you please help?

Regards,

Humair

Console into the AP and reboot the AP.

Post the entire bootup process.
