Hi,
I'm contemplating on using c1941 (upgrade the RAM to 2Gb) as a pure BGP route server.
Does anybody know if the router has sufficient CPU horsepower to handle at least 50 BGP peers with around 20,000 prefixes (in total)?
Thank you for helping.

Hello.
Sorry, I don't have the information, but you could try to simulate the load by any BGP simulating software (like NET:BGP scripts).

That will mean that I'll have to purchase the router in the first place. Anyway, thank you for pointing out the script.

Running quagga will be also be an option and it can run on a Linux VM.

We have used several version of Quagga, the bgpd suffers from memory leak and I'm a bit tired of it
