All,
Is there a command for Cisco 2500s running 12.x to obtain the chassis serial number? I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to find one. I don't think the 'show version' command is a command to use for obtaining the serial number either. Will a 'show inventory' or 'show idprom' command work?
Thanks,
GH

There is no command available on the 2500 to see the serial number, independently from the software version or model used.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Those are appropriate commands for more modern devices and OS. But the original question was about 2500 series routers running 12.x code. Those commands are not available for that hardware and that version of code.
