We have Cisco 2821 router on production. It is configured as voice gateway with FXO and PRI cards.
IOS is : "flash:c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124-20.T4.bin"
It was up and running since long time, almost more than 33 weeks.
Suddenly, it stopped processing incoming/outgoing calls.
We were able to telnet this device and change configuration, and save config.
But "show run" or "wr t" dosnt not display any output.
Once I restart this router, everything started working.
I see, CPU/Memory utilization was normal.
What could be problem with this router? Is there any HW issue?or IOS bug isssue?
I have attached the show tech of this router before restarting it.
Pls. suggest.

Try terminal monitor
and after it use show run

I have already tried this.
I telnet router and entered terminal monitor to get some voice debug output.
Debug output is coming, but "show run" doesnt display anything.
no error message, no config display, just display next command line prompt.

Hi,
Can you do a sh priv and also a sh alias.
Regards.
Alain.

Hi
There is no alias configured on router.
Once I saved configuration and restart the router everything working fine.
During the problem even router stopped processing any incoming/outgoing calls.
Once restarted router, even call also started working.
I would like to know, if there any bug issue causing this problem? or HW issue?

Hi,
You mean when you reload the router then the show run works as expected?
But on the show tech-support output there was no sign of reload and no running config ?
Regards.
Alain.

Hi Alain
Show tech is taken just before reloading router.
Router was up and running since more than 33 weeks.
I observed, memory is hogh, cpu is also normal. Still sh run doesnt producing any put put and in/out call was not processing.
Taken show tech-support output before reloading router.
Once router restarted, eveything is working alright.
We suspect, this problem might appear again, could be HW/SW issue, not sure about it.
Pls. suggest.

Rajesh,
I am 90 sure sure that this is a bug with the current code that you are running as we had a similar issue but I could not track it back as it happened a few months ago with one of our voice gateways. Try upgrading the code.
Also, do you recall your router displaying anything about "unknonw" mode ?

Probably about 5 year too late, but did you enter enable mode? There you can do a show running-config.

Hello Rajesh
Could you please share the output of below:
- show memory dead totals
- show memory alloc totals
- show process memory sort
This behavior may be the result of memory fragmentation / memory leak.
Once you share the output, i can look into it to confirm the same.
Regards
