Hi all ,

I need someone help  to figure out why Cisco 2921 Gigaethernet 0/1 is not coming up ? I also tried to connect the interface to another SWITCH with no joy.

ME3400 (ISP's switch)<-------------MPLS link--------------> Cisco 2921 Gi0/1 >>>>>>>>>>Port not coming up

I tried connection between ME3400 (ISP's switch) and spare switch and the INTERFACE of spare switch was in UP/UP state .

Troubleshooting I did so far on Interface Gi0/1

1> Changed ths speed/duplex manually and revert it back to auto

2>diable keepalive

3> Tried differnet LAN cable with no luck

4> Please see HIGHLIGHTED part (in red colour) of "Show controller Gi0/1" command

I am pasting some of the SHOW command output , can someone please assist me  ?

Hello,

Let's start at basics. Have you tried a new cable, also have you tried a cross over? Next your speed is manually set to 100/Full. Try to use an auto/auto config. Finally can you put a laptop on that link and get a physical link coming from the MPLS switch to see if you get a link on the laptop (to rule out cabling).

IOS version on the router

R2921_MMP#sh ver | i image

System image file is "flash0:c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M4.bin"

Hello Umesh

Try with default configuration:

(config)#default interface gi0/1

Try clear interface

#clear interface gi0/1

Try another interface on router, f.e. gi0/0 if it will come UP/UP.

Try this interface connect to another router/switch if it is working.

Hi Toby ,

Thanks for quick response.

I treid connecting my laptop directly to the MPLS link and I was able to ping the other end. I also tried this link connecting to other switch and interaface f the siwtch came up...I also tried couple of cable but no luck bfringing the router port UP.

I also tried using auto/auto setting for speed/duplex on the port with no joy.....

Thanks

Toby ,

By mistake I clicked on "Correct Answer" TAB on your post , can you please delete your post (and repost) as the query still unanswered.

Thanks

I can't seem to delete on my tablet. I will try from my PC soon.

If your link is coming up on the laptop and you can ping to the other end then there is an issue with your router vs the ISP. You have media type rj45in on the config. Do you have a gbic in that port? If so have you tried a different gbic?

Toby ,

I don't have SFP in my router interface as its a normal Gig Port and Router modem is Cisco 2921.

It seems something to do with Port on Router. Please see highlighted part  "Show Controller Gi0/1" output .

Thanks

check the port with laptop as Toby told you
