Hi

I have bought a 2960 switch to work on as I am studying for my CCNA , Im trying to incoperate it into my home network the diagram goes like this

BT Router > Netgear switch (unmanaged) > Patch pannel > 2960 switch

I have set the default gateway and my pc gets an IP address but no access to the internet, I have also added all ports to VLAN 1

Can anyone help please and thanks

Ok @jk865

On your screenshot you are not in DHCP mode as concerned IPv4. Please select "obtain an IP dynamically" and see what the PC receive.

Best regards

I think BT Hubs block 3rd party (non BT) DNS by default - does your PC have DNS hardwired? You can check internet connectivity with "ping 8.8.8.8"

Hello,

--> I have set the default gateway and my pc gets an IP address but no access to the internet, I have also added all ports to VLAN 1

What do you mean by 'I have set the default gateway' ? If your PC is set to DHCP, you do not need to manually set anything. Can you post the output of 'ipconfig /all' from your PC ?

I have set the default gateway on the switch , I have attached config and ipconfig/all

Thanks
