Cisco 3650 - BOOTLDR: MD0002R01.0112182013

Hi all,

I have been having some issues with a couple of new switches and Wireless Mobility - after lots of troubleshooting I can see the only difference the 2 switches with the problem have is that they are showing the below

BOOTLDR: MD0002R01.0112182013

Instead of below which all my other switches show.

BOOTLDR: CAT3K_CAA Boot Loader (CAT3K_CAA-HBOOT-M) Version 1.2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (P)

How do I update the problem switches?  I have tried reinstalling the IOS several times but no joy...

Normal switching functionality is fine but I started looking deeper when the Mobility Agent on the switch would not enable the control path to the Mobility controller - which is when I saw the Bootldr issues.

When I run show version on the switch - notice the name of the Bootldr in the below output, which is different to all the other switches that are working fine, they show "BOOTLDR: CAT3K_CAA Boot Loader (CAT3K_CAA-HBOOT-M) Version 1.18, RELEASE SOFTWARE (P)"

Is the new switch running the same OS level as the other switches? I see it is running 3.7.3e which is the latest, but 3.6.4e is the MD release

Hi,

Can you tell me how you fixed this problem? We are experiencing the same problems with 3 new 3650 switches.

Hi Nathan,

i ran into the same problem, how did you solve this ?

Regards,

Mike

Mike,

not sure what file that is in the boot loader. I think you can use the global command 'boot bootldr' to specify a new file. I am thinking, why not copy the relevant files from a working switch to the flash of the problem switch, then use the 'boot bootldr' command to load those files...
