I have a 7206vxr with a NPE-G1 card in it. I am planning to add some PA-GE card with a ws-g5486 to light single mode Gigabit dark fibre.
Looking at this old thread

it seems that users are experiencing throughput of around 200Mbps. Is this per card, or for the entire chasis? I have 6 free slots, if i were to fill 3 of them up with PA-GE card would i get 200Mbps on each card ?

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps341/prod_presentation09186a008009184d.pdf A GE uses 400 of 600 bandwidth points per PCI Bus. The max per chassis would be 2 GE total. I don't reccomend it.
The best I have ever seen a 1 gig card do on a 7200 (we had the G2) was 800Mb, and that was a test scenario.

Adding PA-GE to a NPE-G1 if search of better throughput would be a waste of time and money.
The most Ethernet performance is achieved with the embedded GE interfaces, and nothing more.
If you still want to keep the 7200 and need more performance, upgrade to NPE-G2, that is the only realistic option.

I understand that there is no way I will ever get the full Gigabit over the dark fibre. But just 200Mb on two PA-GE cards should be enough for now
