Cisco 876 and WAN port

Hi all,

can I configure on Cisco 876 FaX (fast ethernet port) like WAN port? Now our branch office use thich box like perimeter router connected to internet via ATM0 (aDSL-lineDialer0) . But we will upgrade speed to internet and because i need upgrade interface as well. Thank for your reply guys.

Karl,

You can use fastethernet port as WAN port and it depends on the kind of link you are getting from your ISP. Please let us know the ISP connection you have or getting and an overview of the topology that you are trying to setup.

Hi asing2,

thank you for your quick reply. Well, now our branch office is connected to ISP by aDSL (ANNEX B), physical interface is RJ11. There is configured diler0 for geting one public IP address at box. This IP address is used for NAT overload from local LAN and for LAN-to-LAN IPSec tunnel to headquarter office.

Speed of connection is slow so we would like to upgrade them. The ISP offered us faster connection which could be make by fast ethernet with physical interface RJ45.

Well is there any chance to configure fast ethernet port (for example fa4) like wan port with public IP?
